Jennifer
My name is Jennifer. I am the founder and Director of Stable of Hope.
Combining my own experiences and knowledge of Domestic Abuse, grief and anxiety, I set up Stable of Hope. We are a not for profit organisation to help and support people in the community and beyond.
It all started in 2014 when, by chance, I came across a yearling pony who had been badly abused. He was weak, battered, scarred and had completely shut down emotionally. The sadness in his eyes I still remember to this day!
With no experience or knowledge of horses I knew I just could not walk away and leave him to be abused anymore. So the journey of healing began for the both of us. At the time we did not not realise that we would be saving each other!
Over the course of many years we built mutual respect. But most importantly we learnt to trust each other. I learnt to communicate without talking and to listen without hearing. We both had experienced fear in our lives, but what we learnt was fear is nothing to be scared of when you can control situations by having boundaries.
After over two decades of domestic abuse, being around horses empowered me to leave my abusive relationship and help others in situations they feel they have no control over.
Danny
Hi there!
My name is Danny – Following school, I left home at the age of sixteen and for the next 24 years I served with HM Forces which saw me serve in the UK, Northern Ireland, Germany and Hong Kong. Towards the end of my career I was also sent to Iraq and participated during the combat phase of operations.
Once I retired from the military, I spent the next several years working as a Humanitarian Aid worker working for a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) that dealt with the removal of Landmines following armed conflict. This saw me working back in Iraq and other countries such as Angola, North and South Sudan, The Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia, Puntland, Nairobi, Sri Lanka, Chad, Kenya, Kuwait and Lebanon.
As a result I had many life experiences, some good and some not so good. The world around me became ‘dark’.
Then I met Jennifer who had horses that she had rescued and rehabilitated over many years.
Being around the horses in a natural outdoor environment has given me my own inner peace and has enabled me to process my thoughts with a clear mind.
Following my own journey I have helped many ex-colleagues through their own issues of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, stress and anxiety.
Now I dedicate my time to help people achieve their own life goals through my own experiences of life and personal healing.
